Supplement Your Supplements

Some people are looking for a pill that will solve all of their health problems—I’m not talking to them. Real people know that real health requires real change. You can’t keep doing unhealthy things, and expect a pill to erase all the bad effects of those actions. But an herbal remedy can be a big step in the right direction for many health concerns, especially when combined with other healthy changes in diet, lifestyle, and especially, mental fitness.

With this in mind, here at RidgeCrest Herbals, we’re launching a new “supplement your supplement” campaign to equip you not just with our fantastic herbal supplement formulas, but with all the other tools and information you may need. Of course we’re always happy to supply you with the herbal remedies you need (and not the ones you don’t), but we’ll also provide you with information about other things that can help you on your journey, whether we make them or not, and with important lifestyle changes that may help you enjoy better health. And above all, we want you to know that there are important aspects of mental health that can dramatically affect your physical health. 

For many years, modern medicine has tried to separate mental and physical health, pretending that the two are mostly unrelated. We have treated the body mechanically, with no reference at all to the health of the mind that makes the body work. The ancients realized that a healthy body needed a healthy mind, and vice versa—”mens sana in corpore sano” or “a healthy mind in a healthy body” was a common expression in ancient Rome. The influence runs both ways; mental stress can create physical problems, just as physical pain can create mental stress. Heaven knows there is enough mental stress and physical aches and pains to go around in all of our lives.

We don’t preach fear. The last few years have been stressful for all of us. The last thing any of us need is more fear-mongers spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt about health concerns. Fear can be a powerful sales tool, but it is manipulative, and not in our customer’s best interest, so we won’t use it—because we wouldn’t want it used on us. That’s just simple “Golden Rule” ethics. 

On the contrary, we believe that good news and positive information is in short supply with our 24-hour news cycles, and that a positive mental attitude is an important factor in good health. We try our best to spread good news, helpful information, and fun ideas you can use to improve your health, and get your mind and body working together in the best shape possible. We think this is a much better, healthier, and happier way to approach health and health care than many approaches that are so common today.

Over the last 20 years or so, the field of positive psychology has been finding that optimal psychology is as far from normal psychology as normal is from abnormal psychology—and not nearly as well or as thoroughly researched, until recently. Great discoveries are being made about how we can be healthier, happier, and more effective and productive in our work, play, and relationships. We hope to share some of that research, because it fits well with our mission of improving health naturally.
