Making your own hair care is easier than you think! You may have most, if not all, of the ingredients already!

Honey-Shine Hair Mask:
Ingredients:
- 3 parts olive oil
- 1 part honey

Skin-safe essential oils of choice:
- Lavender, tea tree, peppermint, etc.
Directions:
Heat honey in microwave microwave-safe bowl for 30-45 seconds. Add oil and stir until blended. While still warm, but cool enough to touch, apply to damp, towel-dried hair and comb through. Wrap in towel or put in plastic shower cap and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. Shampoo, condition and style as usual.
DIY Detangler:
Ingredients:
- 2-ounce glass spray bottle
- Small funnel
- 1.5 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 5 drops of lavender oil
- Distilled water
Directions:
Using funnel, add vinegar and essential oil to the bottle. Allow to sit for 10 minutes. Fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water. Shake to mix. After washing hair, spray the de-tangler all over, and comb through.
Homemade Leave-in Conditioner:
Ingredients:
- 4 oz aloe vera gel
- 4 oz distilled water
- 4-6 drops of skin-safe essential oil of choice
Directions:
Mix together and put in a spray bottle, shake it up and it's ready to use as a regular leave-in conditioner.
DIY Curl Cream:
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp aloe vera
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp shea butter
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Apply to wet hair, starting from the middle of the head and going to the ends. As you do this, twist your hair around your fingers to encourage curls. Air dry or blow dry and style as usual.
Organic Coconut Milk Shampoo:
Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup liquid castile soap
- 1/3 cup organic coconut milk
- 1 tsp organic coconut oil
- 1 tsp vitamin E oil
- Skin-safe essential oils of choice
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a re-usable container, shake gently before use, shampoo and style as usual.
Rosemary Mint Conditioner:
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 2 tbsp shea butter
- 2 tsp argan oil
- 10 drops rosemary essential oil
- 5-7 drops peppermint or spearmint essential oil
Directions:
Place shea butter and coconut oil in microwave safe bowl, heat in 30 second increments until completely liquid. Allow to cool slightly, then stir in essential oils & argan oil. Put mixture into a container with a tight fitting lid, something like a squeeze bottle is great. Before shampooing, put conditioner into the ends of hair. Slowly work up to the roots. Let sit for 5 minutes. Then rinse. Wash hair with shampoo to remove excess oils.
Homemade Dry Shampoo:
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp baking soda
- ½ tbsp cocoa powder
(for dark hair)
¾ teaspoon turmeric
(for light hair) - 2-5 drops essential oil
Directions:
Mix in bowl, dab brush along hair starting at roots, let sit for a few minutes. Hand shake and lightly brush out.
Lavender Scalp Rinse:
Ingredients:
- 16 oz apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp dried lavender flowers
- Glass jar with non- metal lid
- 8 oz distilled water
Directions:
Place dried lavender into glass jar. Pour vinegar over the lavender. Cover with non-metal lid, let sit in a cool dark place for 1-2 weeks. Strain out the lavender. Pour 1 tbsp into a container and add to 8 oz distilled water. Pour over head after shampooing. Allow to sit for a few minutes, rinse with water.
