Compost Tea - Garden Recipe

Compost Tea - Garden Recipe

You can make your own garden fertilizer with weeds.

What You'll Need:

  • A 5-gallon bucket
  • Heavy rocks
  • Water
  • Sunlight
  • A few days (depending on where you live and the amount of sunlight)
  • Container to keep Compost Tea in (another bucket with a lid or something similar that pours easily)

Directions:

  1. Place your bucket in a sunny location.
  2. Fill your bucket about 1/3 with weeds. Place heavy rocks on top of your weeds. Fill with water.
  3. Let rest 3-5 days in the sun or until it starts to stink.
  4. Pour liquid into a container (keeping particles out of it - may want a strainer of some kind). When you're ready to use - dilute tea as follows: 10 parts water, 1 part tea. Water plants accordingly.

WARNING: DO NOT get this on your clothes or wear clothes you don't care about. The smell is permanent and will not come out.

NOTE: Do not use the tea full strength - it is highly concentrated and can kill your plants! It must be diluted before use.
