Did you know that more than 1,600 chemicals from personal care products and over 2,000 food ingredients or additives are banned in other countries but not the U.S.? It is up to us to learn and start intentionally picking safe products and foods for ourselves. While learning about this can be overwhelming, never fear; there are tools to help make it easier to take our safety into our own hands. These are a few of my favorite healthy living tools:
EWG has a website and an app where you can scan barcodes to search for products and ingredients. They also have a list of verified products, a guide to personal products called Skin Deep, and much more.
MamaVation is a website and blog that investigates products and their ingredients to determine which ones are safe. After an investigation, they put together a list of the worst, best, and best products.
Think Dirty is an app that lets you scan products, learn about ingredients, and find cleaner alternatives.
Yuka is an app that lets you scan products and learn about the ingredients.
Cancel This Clothing is a TikTok channel and website that researches brand ownership. Its spreadsheets help empower us to support family-owned brands instead of MegaCorporations.
As more people learn and get involved, the easier it will be to choose safe products, help each other out, and start a collaborative industry-wide change.
