We subject our eyes to task all day long, often spending many hours looking at screens. No matter your work or environment, though, you expose your eyes to repetitive stress for hours every day. Our goal is to keep your eyes strong and healthy, so here are a few ideas to help break up your day and keep your eyes rested and fresh.
Palming your eyes:
This is done by covering both eyes with your hands. Open your covered eyes and looking into the dark distance. Lights you see in that dark will start to fade, letting the eye relax for a moment. We recommend 60 seconds or so as often as you feel like it.
Distance relay:
This is done by turning away from your book or screen and finding things at different distances. Focus at the farthest away view for a few seconds and move to the next and so on, going back and forth a few times.
If you are not in an environment to find items to focus on for the second exercise, you can use this 3rd exercise as a replacement, or just try and add it to your routine.
Zoom in and out:
Turn away from your screen or book. Hold your hand out with your thumb up. Focus on your thumb as you slowly bring your hand closer to your eyes and then back out again. This can really change the pace for your eyes to work them and keep them strong.
