Herbs for Hiking

Herbs for Hiking

I live in a beautiful place right at the foot of the Wasatch Mountain Range in Utah. With an elevation starting around 4,298 feet and climbing quickly, it's an incredible area for outdoor adventures. Our home is tucked right up against the mountains, and I’m lucky to have access to a variety of hiking trails just blocks away. While I’m out exploring this stunning high-elevation terrain, there are times when I find myself a little out of breath, a bit sore, and in need of natural hiking support. That’s where herbs for hiking and recovery come in, gentle, effective allies that help support stamina, soothe tired muscles, and keep me going on the trail.

Herbal Support for the Trail:

Cordyceps—This ingredient helps support energy metabolism and oxygen utilization, which may help with fatigue and improve physical performance. It has also been shown to help increase antioxidant activity, stimulate immune cells, and support the body's natural, healthy state free from excess inflammation. There are many other benefits associated with this ingredient as well.
Rhodiola Root—This is another really great herb with so many incredible benefits. It can help increase energy, stamina, strength, and mental capacity. It also helps improve athletic and exercise performance. Rhodiola can also help the body resist the effects of stressors on the body and mind and has been shown to enhance brain function, alertness, memory, and focus.
Eleuthero Root—This herb is known for supporting increased energy, improved physical stamina, and athletic performance. It is an adaptogen that helps build the body’s resilience to stress.
Bromelain—A natural enzyme that comes from pineapples. This ingredient may help reduce muscle soreness and help support the body's natural state free from excess inflammation after exercise or injury and speed up recovery as well as enhancing performance
Turmeric Root—Another amazing ingredient for supporting the body's natural state free from excess inflammation, turmeric is a great addition for recovery from exercise or the impact of daily activities. It has also been shown to help with immune health.

There is a long list of other herbs that are all great for hiking depending on your need:

  • Ashwagandha
  • Holy Basil
  • Astragalus
  • Schisandra
  • Teasel
  • Calendula
  • Yarrow
  • Ginseng
  • Maca
  • Ginkgo
  • Guarana

These are all herbs that I incorporate into my daily routine in various supplements. I find that I have a much easier time breathing while exerting myself, better endurance, and a much faster and easier recovery time.
