Light Therapy

Light Therapy

Light therapy, also known as phototherapy, has emerged as a powerful tool in promoting overall well-being and treating various health conditions. A lot of research is currently on the rise for this treatment. Even NASA has studies on the amazing benefits of light therapy! This non-invasive treatment involves exposure to many different types, specific colors, and wavelengths of light to stimulate wellness and balance in the body. According to an article published in the Journal of Neuroscience Bulletin, “Growing evidence derived from both clinical trials and animal studies supports the beneficial effects of light therapy on multiple brain functions, including mood, cognition, sleep, and pain.”1  While more research is yet to come for different outcomes, a few specific health topics are leading the way.

One of the primary benefits of light therapy is its effectiveness in helping the body fight the blues that occur during specific seasons, often in the darker months of the year when the sunlight is more scarce. By mimicking natural sunlight, light therapy helps regulate circadian rhythms and boost mood, relieving fatigue and low energy symptoms. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals, helping to combat stress.

Another benefit of light therapy has been shown to improve sleep quality and regulate the body's internal clock. By promoting the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for regulating sleep-wake cycles, light therapy can help individuals achieve a more restful and rejuvenating sleep. According to an article in Science Direct, studies showed “significant effects of light therapy for all sleep problems combined.”2

In addition to mood and sleep, light therapy is highly recommended for improved focus, enhanced cognitive function, long-term cognitive therapy, skin health, joint and muscular comfort, circulation, heart health, cranial comfort, digestive system support, mental wellness, cell health, energy production, and so much more!  With its versatility, minimal side effects, and accessibility, light therapy offers a safe and effective solution for enhancing overall health and well-being. Whether used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other therapies, light therapy promises brighter days for those seeking better health!
