Cheer-Me-Up Golden Tea Recipe

What is Golden Tea? 

Golden Tea, also known as "haldi doodh" in Hindi, originates from ancient Ayurvedic traditions, where turmeric is cherished for its healing properties. Traditionally this warm and cozy drink has been prepared by simmering turmeric with milk and warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper. Over the centuries, golden tea has become a household staple in South Asia and has gained popularity worldwide as a comforting and healthy beverage. 

What are the Benefits of Golden Tea? 

Golden Tea offers a variety of health benefits. 

  • Curcumin which is found in turmeric works to support the inflammation response in the body making it great for joint, bone, and muscle health
  • It is rich in antioxidants which support cellular health and combat oxidative stress
  • The key ingredients help to support the immune system 
  • It is great for overall digestive and gut support
  • It supports relaxation due to its warm and comforting nature which helps to support mood, relaxation, and sleep
  • It also helps to support brain health including serotonin and dopamine 

Cheer-Me-Up Golden Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups milk of choice
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp honey or sweetener of choice
  • pinch of black pepper, to liking
  • optional: dried ginger pieces

Directions:

In a small pot, pour in all the ingredients, stir, and heat over medium-low heat for 2-3 minutes. Stir occasionally. Take off the heat and whisk thoroughly using a whisk or frother. Add ginger pieces if using. Serve in your favorite mug and enjoy!
